Ameriprise Financial offers grants across three focus areas:
Meeting Basic Needs – Hunger, shelter, and adult self-sufficiency.
Supporting Community Vitality – Community development, cultural enrichment, and disaster relief.
Volunteer-Driven Causes – Focused on Minneapolis-St. Paul.
To be eligible for funding, programs and organizations must:
Hold a 501(c)(3) IRS designation.
Clearly align with one of the three grant-making focus areas.
Submit a complete application, including:
Uploaded Federal 990 form.
Financial audit or financial review from the last two years, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Show measurable results and clearly documented outcomes.
Demonstrate financial stability.
Provide required reporting if a prior grantee.
Ameriprise Financial does not provide grants to:
Organizations that do not meet the eligibility criteria.
Organizations that do not comply with Ameriprise Financial’s non-discrimination policy, which ensures equal opportunity regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, and other protected categories.
Capital or endowment campaigns.
Multi-year commitments.
Private foundations.
International organizations or domestic organizations requesting funding for programs outside the U.S. and its territories.
Organizations requesting funding for re-granting.
Sponsorships, fundraising events, sports tournaments, camps, or advertising.
Fraternal, social, labor, athletic, veteran, or membership organizations and their affiliated foundations.
Individuals or groups seeking support for personal needs, travel, scholarships, or research.
Medical research, hospitals, and clinics.
Political organizations, advocacy programs, or initiatives that influence legislation or campaigns.
Religious organizations for religious purposes.
Start-up funding for new organizations.
Organizations that fund terrorist groups or activities (per U.S.A. PATRIOT Act compliance).
