Overview

The City of Minneapolis is seeking proposals for its 2025 Innovative Waste Reduction Projects as part of the Climate Legacy Initiative. This program provides funding for community-led waste diversion projects aimed at reducing the amount of waste entering landfills and incineration facilities.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The project must serve Minneapolis residents and take place within the city.

  • The contractor must comply with City of Minneapolis contract and insurance requirements (details in Attachment F of the RFP).

  • Eligible applicants include:

    • Nonprofit and for-profit organizations

    • Neighborhood associations

    • Faith-based organizations

    • Business associations

    • Multi-unit or commercial building management organizations

    • Private and charter schools in Minneapolis

  • Partnerships are allowed, but one organization must be designated as the lead contractor.

Project Goals

  • Increase waste diversion from landfills and incineration.

  • Support innovative waste reduction strategies that align with community needs.

  • Promote sustainable waste management solutions through local engagement.
