Overview

The Thorpe Foundation funds organizations dedicated to supporting vulnerable seniors (aged 55+) in aging with dignity, independence, and connection.

Eligibility Criteria / General Requirements

The Foundation supports efforts that:

  • Provide home and community-based services that enable seniors to remain in their chosen residence as long as possible

  • Reduce social isolation by fostering social connections, skill-building, and creativity

  • Engage seniors meaningfully in their communities

  • Use reciprocal, multigenerational programs that foster empathy and build relationships across generations

Additional Grantmaking Information:

  • Priority is given to organizations or programs that serve community members with low incomes (using benchmarks such as AMI, SNAP, Free and Reduced Lunch, or the Federal Poverty Rate).

  • Geographic focus includes nonprofit organizations located in and/or primarily serving residents of Minneapolis and its first- and second-ring suburbs.
