Overview
The Individual Professional Development Grants program provides financial support to credit union staff and volunteers for education and training opportunities that sustain and strengthen the credit union movement. Applications open annually in the fall for awards applied to programming the following year. Grants may also be awarded by special request on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the year, depending on availability of funds.
Status (Profit/Nonprofit): Nonprofit (Credit Union Network-affiliated organizations)
Eligibility Criteria/General Requirement:
Applicant must be a director, committee member, or employee of a Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN) affiliated credit union at the time of grant usage.
Applications must be complete and submitted by the published deadline. Late applications may be considered only if funds are available.
The recipient’s credit union will be reimbursed after the course/program is successfully completed and a reimbursement form is submitted.
Grants must be used during the year and for the purpose stated on the application.
Eligible Professional Development Grant Categories:
CUDE Scholarship: $3,000 to attend the National Credit Union Foundation Credit Union Development Educator training.
GAC Scholarship: $2,000 to attend the CUNA GAC Conference.
Financial & Audit Professionals Grant: $1,000 for specialized financial or audit training.
FiCEP Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor: Up to $500 to attend the MnCU Foundation Enhanced FiCEP training program.
Small Credit Union Grant: Up to $1,000 for professional development opportunities for credit unions with under $100 million in assets.
Other Professional Development Grant: For MnCUN major event registration and travel, Trailblazers, Webinar Network, or other industry-specific training (must specify program and requested amount).
Grant Requests Not Accepted:
Applications from non-affiliated organizations or individuals
Requests for purposes outside credit union-related professional development
Application Deadline: Ongoing
Grant Amount: $500 – $3,000 (depending on category)
