Overview
The Rumphius Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established in March 2013 by Michael C. Schuller. Inspired by the children’s book Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney, the Foundation embodies the mission of making the world “a little more beautiful.”
Mike Schuller dedicated his life to sustainability, environmental protection, and community outreach, supporting organizations like Friends of Acadia, Clean the Bay, United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Habitat for Humanity. His initiatives included leading the construction of the first LEED Gold building at St. Andrew’s School, reforesting fields, advocating for solar energy, and performing countless acts of kindness.

Eligibility Criteria/General Requirement:
Applicants must be IRS-designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organizations.
Projects must be based in the United States.
Grant requests may be up to $6,000.
Projects must align with the Foundation’s mission and have a measurable outcome or completion date within one year of the project start.
Grants are awarded for one year only.
Funds must be used solely for the approved purposes outlined in the application.
Organizations awarded funding must submit a detailed update within 12 months, including a narrative and images if available.
